Cleaning Your Bong

Once you have a good quality bong, it is important to maintain it properly.  Doing so will extend the life of your water pipe and allow you to enjoy your favourite legal highs without worrying about a breakdown of the equipment.  Cleaning your bong is one of the most important parts of the maintenance process.  While the steps used in cleaning a bong vary depending on the construction and the nature of the materials, a few basic rules are likely to apply.

The first rule of thumb is that the bong must be cleaned on a regular basis.  For many people, a good cleaning once a month is sufficient.  However, if you use the bong a lot, and especially if you like to experiment with different blends of herbs, you may need to clean the water pipe more often.  If you think the pipe may be ready for a cleaning, chances are that it is, so don’t delay.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it is impossible to thoroughly clean the bong unless you disassemble the components.  After taking the sections apart, use a recommended cleaning solution and a clean cloth to gently but firmly remove and residue that has collected on each part.  With glass and acrylic components, you may need to immerse some of the parts in a cleaning solution for a few hours or overnight.  Always rinse off the residue of the solution, and dry with a clean cloth before putting the components back together.

It is not unusual for manufactures to include cleaning instructions with every bong they ship.  If you’ve misplaced the instructions, contact the manufacturer.  There’s a good chance they can either email you the instructions or provide you with a URL where the instructions are posted.
