Checking the water in your bong

A water bong is an apparatus used by smokers to have a satisfying ‘hit’ of their tobacco or herbal mixtures. Water is placed inside the bong to filter the smoke before it goes into the smoker’s lungs.

The bong should be filled up with the appropriate amount of water, so that proper cooling and filtration of the smoke will be done. It is advisable to fill the water bong only 2/3 of the way to just below the ‘carb’, the hole located at the side or at the back part of the bong. The carb serves to cool the smoke. The air passes through the carb every time a smoker is done inhaling.

If the water is too high, the water may reach the bong’s mouth. Remember that bong water tastes bad – very, very bad. The water may also reach the stem where the smoking mixture is placed. Lack of water is also a problem because the bong will not filter the smoke properly and it will never cool the smoke.

It is also advisable to change the water avoid it getting overly polluted. Remember that when the water gets blurred, it begins to smell nasty, which will change the taste of the herbal mixture or tobacco. The changing of water depends on the size of the bong; if it is a small one, it is advisable to change the water after every session, and if the bong is a larger one, change the water twice a month.
