Advantages and Benefits of Using a Bong

There are a number of benefits to using bongs versus other options for ingesting substances that have the capability of producing a legal high.  These other options include hand rolled “blunts” or “joints”, pipes, and a wide array of both handcrafted and homemade paraphernalia.  Today, bongs are manufactured from a variety of materials and are available  in a range of  different colours.  There are single user bongs as well as multi-user bongs or multiple chamber bongs.

Many individuals have turned to smoking with a bong because the smoke is bubbled through the water (or ice) which cools it down and helps to prevent burning in the airways, lungs, and mouth.  This appears to be what most individuals claim is their reasoning for using a bong rather than a hand-rolled or pipe method.  The ice or water in the acrylic or glass bong serves to trap both heavy particles and other water-soluble materials while using the device.  Additionally, most smokers will tell you that they feel smoking with a bong is considerably healthier than other methods.

However a NORML-MAPS study conducted in 2000 revealed that the ice and/or water also filter out the THC in the substance which is the psychoactive element in marijuana.  On the other hand, those individuals who prefer the herbal/natural legal highs don’t have those concerns since they do not contain THC like marijuana does.  And this is also another reason why bongs have become popular in the legal highs sector.
